Happy 1st of November

And we're back onto level 2 water restrictions. Just brilliant. At least I have a good excuse not to wash my windows...

I ended up watching an old Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers video (Follow the Fleet) last night. I've not really got into old black and white movies before but was quite engrosed and clicking away on my knitting needles in time to the dancing. What's not to like? Cute men in uniforms, dancing, singing and lovely frocks (not on the cute men, in case you were wondering). Sort of crazy to think it's now 70 years old!

And stuck in my head at the moment? The Sugarcubes' Motorcrash. Good to see my subconscious has good taste.

Tonight is the launch of The Canberra Theatre subscription season and the official opening of the new link. (Which means the new Civic Library opening can't be too far away.)

I can't wait to see what goodies Canberra Theatre have up their sleeves for us next year...

  1. i'm still shocked that it's november already! i saw the first christmas commercial tonight! where did the month go?

you wash windows? i had some saleswoman come to my door last month trying to sell me some non-toxic cleaner that she said was safe for children but the bottle said not to use around children (she actually licked with nozzle when i brought it to her attention)...anyway, she started to wash my windows! i told her that i don't do windows so now i have a nice circle that's cleaner than the rest!

  3. Shanna - not very often. The upstairs outside has been done once in the (almost ) 8 years I've been here. The kitchen window downstairs gets done a bit more often.

Taph - thanks for the date. I thought it was cute that they had some books on the shelves for us to admire through the windows tonight but pretty scary that the return chutes go straight into the library, not a separate fireproof area...

  4. What's "the new link"? I can only think of the missing link!

  5. Patience, June (my camera wouldn't fit into my bag so I'll have to go back and take pictures later)

I did point out that although The Link had arguably the longest bar in Canberra it was designed not to be danced on as they built a bulkhead about 4 foot above it.

The new toilets were pretty exciting, though. Or maybe that was because I'd had 4 glasses of free champers and would have found anything exciting...
