Margell Public School has closed (cost cutting, don't you know? The children are now being bused into town.)
So the children, school bags and exercise books have gone home for the very last time.
The desks and chairs are stacked
and the shelves emptied of anything of value.
The school is quiet, awaiting its new life...
I guess at least while renovations are in progress, the schoolroom can be located on your work table - puts off the final location dilemma for a little while. Or did a solution come to you on your drive home?
ReplyDeleteThis is too cute. I can't wait to see it undergo all the renovations. :)
ReplyDeleteJennifer: Still sitting on the dinning table, but then again the rest of the stuff is in a pile on the lounge floor. Will need to do a major clear off of the work table before I can bring it upstairs (and will probably need a helper to get it up here) but the light would be very much better for photographing it...
ReplyDeleteKristine: I can't wait either!
so sad... wish you weren't undoing all that beautiful, detailed work. it was so unique and created with a lot of love. feels like a waste.
ReplyDelete"Schools out for summer, schools out forever!!!" Very clever! I LOVE this idea. The school house was really cute with a lot of great details, but definitely not a waste. I know you'll turn this into something amazing. Looking forward to watching your progress.
ReplyDeleteI have to thank you... I used your idea of shooting the Emerson at night/in the dark for the Undersized Urbanite contest. My windows are so gacked up with glue and scratches that I couldn't get decent pictures of the angles I wanted. I remembered your post from a few years ago and did my final reveal photos in the dark. THANK YOU so much for the inspiration! Now I just need a new camera so the pics are not so grainy.

Hi Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI understand what you're saying and usually agree with you but the school as it was has been well-documented. Before I bought it I told the creator what I planned to do with it and asked her if she still wanted to sell it to me: and she was quite excited that it would have a new (and sympathetic), as many small country schools do in real life.
