Many of the miniature scenes on display at this year's NZAME convention were forties-themed too. Here are a few of my favourites...
'We will remember them' by Loretta Surtees (North Shore Miniatures, Weenie's Sunday School), three tiny war-time scenes in a biscuit tin.
(Although the pedant in me did wonder why the kitchen wasn't on the top and the underground shelter on the bottom...)
Alas, I was so busy taking a video of the inside of this one-twelfth scale anderson shelter, I forgot to note who made it.
'1940s memories' by Alison Ede (North Shore Miniatures, Weenie's Sunday School)
(I loved how she turned the the speaker cover into an awning!)
Margaret Webster admires 'CWI's 1942 wartime fundraising fete at the Albany Hall' by North Shore Miniatures
Also set in the suburb of Albany was 'Albany Memorial Hall' by Jean Blanc (North Shore Miniatures, Weenie's Sunday School)
These are marvelous, especially the fundraiser with the tiny winning ribbons. :D
ReplyDeleteBiscuit tin is genius. I love the idea of making a scene in something like that to save on shelf space. Hmmm
ReplyDeleteOtterine: That's what I thought about the detail in the hall scene!
ReplyDeletePepper: I've seen scenes made in laundry powder tins, miscellaneous kitchen tins, and even gift bags. I'm sure you'll come up with something that blows those ideas out of the water :-)
