I'm a tired bunny

I've been at the Australian Miniature Enthusiasts Association convention, It's been a busy weekend.

I've had a stall in the trading room, have been acting as the official photographer, plus have been running the association's Facebook page and helping the committee when they need it.

It's a beautiful location,

with a couple of classes being held in the top floor of the original building:

The (miniature) week that was...

It's been a bit quiet on the blog front around here, but that doesn't mean nothing has been going on. To start with, I've been spending my blogging time this week on sorting out and cleaning up back-end stuff, which is boring but worthwhile.

More excitingly, I received a package from Lundby Australia, which contained a range of goodies from their new Smaland 2015 range:

 I'd only asked for the new bluetooth stereo, to review for the next issue of The tiny Times, so was surprised and delighted to receive the added extras. I feel a blog post about which pieces work in 1/12 scale coming on, but first I need to share my excitement at being able to play music in your dolls' house:

 

I took a quick video just after I unpacked it, using the only house I had wired up, and the only track on my phone:

But first, I need to finish preparing new stock for my stall at the AMEA Convention:

and do some more work on my Etsy shop, which has something in it for the first time since I opened it eight years ago (thanks to The Etsy Courage Challenge for the kick in the bum and the reminder that 'done is better than perfect'.) 

All of this means that there's been nothing done on any of my Finish it off Friday projects at all this month...*sigh*

Saturday morning garage sales

This morning I went garage saleing

but soon noticed there was something odd going on

and realised I'd stumbled across the filming of the movie Second Hand Wedding.

(They don't call it Wellywood for nothing...)

I was lucky enough to be given a full behind the scenes tour and have loaded the photos to FLICKR.

Goulburn goodies

From the op shops: one wooden reel of cotton (50 cents).

From Convention: one wooden blackboard ($10), one cafe chair ($19.50 including a second chair and a table) and one delicate hand knitted cashmere silk shawl (free after I complained that the original price was far too low and I might just have to buy it myself in order to own such a wonderful work of art before she realised the true value of it and put the price up)

From Photoshop when I returned home: one (modified) Now panic and freak out poster.

Saturday report part two: Five (interstate) op shops

Which actually turned out to be three interstate op shops as I didn't have time to get down to the Father Riley's/ Salvos end of town.

Saturday report part one: One miniature convention

Where I was given the use of an official one of a kind press pass by a lovely friend (that wasn't all I was given: details to follow)

bumped into a fellow I Op - ACT member, admired this mini art store by Jenny Balderson (see, I remembered to write down the creators this time!)told Rosemary Blake how great her miniature tea cosies wereand talked to Brindabella Miniatures about inclusion in Call of the Small next year.Then I had lunch with Diva (who's generously offered me the use of her studio and expertise in the designing and building the miniature craft gallery for the exhibition) before having to race off.

And then the sun came out...

Here's my Saturday in pictures:
10 am: At the hairdressers.
11 am: Coffee and catching up with Rosemary and Chris Ann who I bumped into at the mini show. Rosemary is showing us a pincushion idea.

11:30 am: What I saw at the show :

Cute 1/10th scale German table and chairs.

Modern Canberra apartment lounge.

Cool miniature jumper. Beautiful hand embroidered cushions for sale on the AMEA stall.

12 noon: What I bought at the show (how restrained!). A turned bowl from Brindabella Miniatures, local Canberra artisans.

1:30 pm: Gosh what's that over there?

(Yes, I succumbed. But it was for a worthy cause, right?)
