Total spent: $579.88*
vs average monthly spending for the past financial year: $2877.75
* Includes standard payments such as electricity, internet, phone, petrol (even though it pretty much all got claimed back) plus, of course, food and postage. Does not include rent and car loan repayments.
I'll work out my net debt levels on Thursday.
And no questions?! I'm disappointed!

wow! what a difference! i know i spend too much monthly...i guess it's time for me to go on a fiscal fast!
So now you know how much you can live on, are you going to revise the budget?
Oh! Oh! a question!!!
Budget for this financial year already revised, new Excel spreadsheets created and the only thing I'm waiting on is to find out what my new weekly pay is before I lock everything into place...
Of course you should ask the question again in a month's time :-)
So, do you think it was easier (relative term there) to be fiscally confined, knowing you would have to report daily exactly what you spent, to who knows how many people? I could never keep it up for a month if left to my own devices.
Hi Jennifer
Yes, probably but there were times I was thinking "I could go do whatever I want and noone would no any different".
I think by keeping it "fun" and a challenge I managed to keep on the straight and narrow plus knowing that Taph and Knitting Nutty had both joined the bandwagon in their own way (and the continued supportive comments from people) helped a lot.
Also helpful was the loophole which meant if someone came to dinner they could bring wine and/ or chocolate so I didn't feel as terribly deprived as I might have.
Oh - add to that the fact that I had (and still have) a stack of unwatched videos, unread books & magazines and unused craft supplies kept the "need for the new" happy.
Finally living alone and working from home helped a lot - no temptation to wander round the shops at lunchtime or head out for a drink or meal with a coworker and I was able to cook lunch from scratch when I needed to (and put the bread on to rise Fridays at 3pm so it would be ready to deal with Saturdays at 9am.
