But when I spotted the new Australia Post's new Landmarks: Australian Modernist Architecture stamps on display while in the queue at the post office this morning I got quite agitated until I could scamper over and have a closer look.
I like. I like a lot. I think I'll be buying me some of these once I've decided which set I want the most*. There are even postcards, but I'm thinking stamps as they'd look best framed in a small box frame.
(*Obviously one that includes Canberra's very own Shine Dome!)

Owhhh... of coz being from Perth I love the one with the Council House. :*)
I love your devotion for your adopted home town! You put many of the born-and-breds to shame.
But it's the best place in the world to live!
I had a conversation with a taxi driver about a year after I moved here:
Him: "Are you a Canberran?"
Me: "Yup."
Him: "You know it's rare to find people who were born and bred here?"
Me: "Well I only arrived a year ago but I think it's the best place to live in the world. Which makes me a Canberran, I think.
Which is better than someone who's lived here all their lives and hates it, right?"
He looked thoughtfulfor a while and then agreed that I was indeed correct.
Shiny!!! (Dome)
Those stamps are awesome! Nice colour combo too.
I think a glass of wine would go down a treat. I do need to be back in town by 6 though... but a little time away won't hurt anybody. :)
hey love those stamps, I hadn't seen them - the sydney none is great but hen I love it here so guess I am a sydneysider haha! ;-)
thanks for your email, I am most distressed to learn you didn't *make* the campari marmalade and now I am on a little mission to find a recipe
hope the weather there is warming up - DH is coming over next week on business and we heard it was -2 there last week - eek!

Yeah - only minus 2. I don't think we've got down to minus 7 this winter yet - suspect it's been too dry... :-P
I'm wondering if born and breds just don't see stuff the same way as they've always known it where as those of us who move to a place later in life "see" it more and thus appreciate it?
Here's an example: I lived in Wellington for many years and really didn't notice how beautiful the coast road up to Paraparamu is because, well, it had always been there and I'd travelled it many times. But visitors go "Oh!" and "Ah!" over it...
Stamps are awesome! I m stamp collector and love to add it
